Adults; not recommended below 18 years in the reference.

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Assess kidney and liver function and the risk of lactic acidosis; this is not a substitute for insulin when insulin is required.

Improves blood-sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Used when diet, exercise and one medicine are insufficient.
Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
