Adults; safety and effectiveness below 18 years are not established in the reference.
Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Assess kidney and liver function, pancreatitis and lactic-acidosis risks; swallow the prolonged-release tablet whole.
- Improves blood-sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
- Used alongside diet and exercise when both medicines are appropriate.
- Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
