Glimepiride can cause hypoglycaemia; metformin has a lactic-acidosis risk. Kidney and liver disease require assessment. Not a treatment for diabetic ketoacidosis; do not crush the sustained-release tablet.
- Control of type 2 diabetes when diet, exercise and one medicine are insufficient.
